OISE Heidelberg - test centre for the test WiDaF

Evaluation, validation and certification on international business German language proficiency

Test WiDaF - details

The WiDaF test measures and certifies proficiency in international business German at intermediate and advanced level. It provides an accurate measurement of the German capabilities of non-native speakers in listening, reading and vocabulary/grammar.

The test WiDaF has been developed by the German-French Chamber of Commerce in Paris and is organized in over 150 test centres worldwide.

WiDaF format

The WiDaF is a paper and pencil test consisting of 150 multiple choice questions, divided into 2 separately timed sections. The test lasts approximately 2 ½ hours. All questions are based on real-world settings and situations. The test is taken at OISE Heidelberg and is supervised by a member of staff.

The answer sheets are corrected by scanner which provides highly reliable and accurate results.

The WiDaF is not a pass or fail test. Separate marks for the vocabulary, reading and listening section ranging from 0 to 330 points are awarded to the test taker. The total score is hence between 0 and 990 points.

A certificate – laid out in English and German – confirms the test taker’s score(s).

The test scores can be mapped onto the Common European Framework of Reference for Language. It is for this reason a valid and reliable measure of German language proficiency.
