OISE Heidelberg courses are tailored to each student’s individual needs. Because of this, it is vital that we monitor each student’s progress closely throughout their course to make sure that their classes are tailored to their needs at every stage.
Every student is an individual, and everyone learns at a different pace. Our teachers are in constant communication with each other and with the Academic Manager to make sure that everyone’s course is at exactly the right level at every stage.
1:1 teachers, of course, constantly adapt their classes to each student’s needs. However, it is important to us that students in group classes are also monitored closely. Groups are organic, and the individuals in a particular group can change each week as necessary. This means that students on group programmes can progress at their different rates, confident that as their German improves, they will always be working with others of a similar level at all times.
Students requiring more formal records of their progress can take regular weekly or monthly tests, which are organised by the teachers and/or the Academic Manager.
All students receive a certificate on their final day in OISE Heidelberg, and this includes a detailed report on their level at the end of their course. Teachers discuss each student’s abilities, and assess their level in five different areas: Listening, Reading, Spoken Interaction, Spoken Production and Writing. Students are graded according to the Common European Framework levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2)
